Origins of ASM-Elica
Originally established as Advanced Sorting Machines SRL, ASM brought over three decades of expertise in optical-electronic sorting to industrial customers. ASM’s roots in optical sorting technology come from the province of Bologna, a region with Italy’s longest agro-industrial traditions, which helped shape the company’s focus on applied engineering and systems innovation. Its founding members, Engineer Giovannini and Dr Mantovani, along with the qualified technical staff, had developed and produced a new series of high-tech and state-of-the-art sorting machines.
Strategic Acquisition
ASM was acquired by Elica in 2020. Since the acquisition, ASM and Elica’s Bulgarian division, Elica Processing, have worked together to supply advanced turnkey solutions for bulk handling, seed processing, cleaning lines and other industrial applications. They are an industry leader in the development of high-precision optical sorters for the agri-food, seed and recycling sectors.
Product Range
ASM-Elica’s innovations emphasise automation, data-driven control, modular design and scalability, making its solutions applicable from laboratory settings to large industrial production lines. This technological foundation allows the company to address complex quality and sorting challenges while supporting process optimisation in agriculture, seed processing, food handling and related industries.
One of ASM-Elica’s flagship products is Galaxy, a modular optical sorter that combines high-capacity throughput with multispectral vision systems and intelligent ejection technologies.
Their other product is Globe, a highly precise quad-linear optical sorting technology used for laboratories and industrial applications. Eureka Pro is another optical sorting machine that is tailor-made for small-scale production and laboratory needs.
Quasar Pro is a robust sorting solution for higher capacities (up to 42 t/h) and allows up to six channels. Other products include Tigerbelt, a conveyor-based sorting unit and PowTest, an opto-electronic powder analysis unit.
