Golden Child has raised US$37 million to develop a new food system for dogs centred on nutrient-rich fresh food offering functional benefits, supported by a supply chain intended to meet the same standards as human food delivery.
Backed by Atomic, A* and Redpoint Ventures, Golden Child has emerged from stealth mode to introduce what it describes as a new category of fresh dog food.
The company was founded in 2025 by Quentin Lacornerie, former Vice President of Product Management at Hims & Hers, and Jack Abraham, co-founder of Hims & Hers. The business was launched after Abraham’s dog became unwell due to nutritional deficiencies while eating one of the market’s more expensive premium fresh food products.
Golden Child said it has built a founding team that includes a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, a nutrition scientist, a classically trained chef and a fresh food supply chain specialist. Team members also bring experience from companies including The Farmer’s Dog, HelloFresh, Royal Canin, Nestlé Purina and Pepperidge Farm.
The company enters a growing market, with the US fresh petfood sector forecast to expand by US$3.2 billion by 2029. With 68 million US households owning a dog, and Generation Z and millennials now representing more than half of pet owners, demand for higher-quality and carefully formulated products continues to rise.
