GoodRx has launched the Companion Family Plan, extending its healthcare savings subscription to households that include children, adult family members and pets. The new plan, announced on 3 September, costs US$24.99 per month or US$16.99 per month when paid annually. It covers one primary member and up to four dependents, with no age restrictions for dependents.
The new plan expands GoodRx’s everyday healthcare subscription to households that include children, adult family members and pets. The new family plan provides access to more than 250 eligible generic medications at no cost and hundreds of additional medications for under US$10 at nearly every pharmacy nationwide. Members can also receive savings on dental, vision, laboratory and imaging services. The primary member receives access to online care visits priced at US$19.
For the pet sector, the development is notable because GoodRx has included pets within the definition of household dependents under its new subscription model. This brings pet care into a broader family-focused healthcare savings proposition, although the company’s announcement does not provide a breakdown of which specific pet medications or services are covered.
Wendy Barnes, President and CEO of GoodRx, said, “Families don’t experience healthcare costs one person at a time. They’re simultaneously managing prescriptions and care for kids, parents, partners, and even pets. Expanding Companion across the entire household allows us to support consumers in a way that reflects this reality. It also advances our strategy to make GoodRx a more central part of how consumers navigate and pay for healthcare.”
GoodRx plans to expand Companion through its Employer Direct programme, giving employers the option to subsidise memberships as part of their employee benefits. The company said this could also help address healthcare costs for workers who do not qualify for traditional benefits.
