Mars Petcare inaugurates two new production lines in France

December 18, 2024 – Mars Petcare France is taking a new step in its industrial development with the inauguration of two new production lines at its Saint-Denis-de-I’Hôtel site, in France. This project is the result of an ambitious €120 million investment over three years, consolidating the plant’s strategic position in the production of wet petfood for European markets.

Historically recognised as a pioneer in the production of wet petfood for dogs and cats, the site is expanding its capacity with a new workshop equipped with two lines that are dedicated to producing Royal Canin products. Previously produced in Austria, this petfood now benefits from local expertise and cutting-edge industrial processes.

Thanks to this expansion, the site’s production capacity increased by 44,000 tonnes per year. The plant, which already produces more than 600,000 cans and one million pouches per day, is positioning itself as a key player in the petfood industry in Europe.

The addition of the two lines required rapid and efficient adaptation of industrial practices to meet the requirements of complex nutritional formulas. These new facilities demonstrate the site’s ability to innovate while maintaining high quality standard. At the same time, the plant is continuing its energy transition, integrating more environmentally friendly technologies. These efforts are part of the Mars group’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2040.

With this investment and expansion, Mars Petcare aims to strengthen its industrial sovereignty while contributing to the local economy. “The Saint-Denis-de-l’Hôtel plant is a showcase of French industrial excellence. By investing in new production capacity, we are strengthening our position in Europe” said Romain Dumas, President of Mars Petcare & Food France.

With these new production lines the Saint-Denis-de-l’Hôtel site is preparing to meet a growing demand for high-quality products, adapted to specific needs of pets. This project not only strengthens Mars Petcare’s position on the market, but also demonstrates that industrial innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
