MHP has opened MHP Pet Food, Croatia’s first wet petfood production facility, located in Zlatar Bistrica. The facility represents an investment of more than EU€43 million and will manufacture the company’s new petfood brand, Proof.
According to Yuriy Kosyuk, Founder and CEO of MHP Group, the launch marks the company’s entry into the petfood sector, with the business aiming to apply its experience in innovation and food production to the new market segment.
The Proof brand was developed in response to increasing demand for premium petfood products. The Zlatar Bistrica facility also forms part of the wider circular economy strategy of MHP and Perutnina Ptuj, one of the region’s major poultry and meat producers.
Oleksii Bezuglyi, Director of MHP Pet Food, stated that the new operation builds on the company’s long-standing expertise in food production.
MHP has continued to expand its presence across European markets through acquisitions and investment. In 2019, the company acquired Perutnina Ptuj, based in Slovenia, and since then the business has nearly doubled production and tripled EBITDA. Investments exceeding EU€241 million have contributed to workforce growth from 3600 employees in 2018 to more than 5700 by 2025, supported by a network of more than 400 contracted breeders and expanded exports into Western Europe and the Iberian market.
In 2025, MHP also completed the acquisition of more than 92 percent of the share capital of Grupo UVESA, a vertically integrated poultry and pork producer based in Spain.
