JustFoodForDogs has appointed Michael Meyer as Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Eric Kufel, who is stepping down for personal health reasons and plans to pursue advisory and board roles.
Meyer brings nearly 20 years of experience in the pet industry, focused on developing and expanding premium brands. Since 2022, he has served as CEO of I and love and you, a natural cat and dog food brand sold through human food retail channels. He has also held leadership and board positions with other L Catterton portfolio companies, including Wellness Pet Company and Lily’s Kitchen, as well as roles at Restoration Hardware and Plum Organics. Meyer also spent two years on the board of JustFoodForDogs following L Catterton’s investment in the company in 2017.
Commenting on the appointment, Meyer said the fresh petfood sector continues to experience strong growth, driven by increasing consumer focus on pet health and demand for higher-quality, science-based nutrition products. He added that the company’s emphasis on transparency, innovation and nutrition has helped establish its position within the fresh petfood category.
Matt Lischick of L Catterton stated that Kufel had played a key role in strengthening the company’s brand and expanding its wholesale and digital operations. He also noted that Meyer’s experience within the fresh petfood sector and previous involvement with JustFoodForDogs positioned him to lead the company through its next phase of growth.
