UK pet nutrition company Omni Pet has secured UK£11 million (US$14.5 million) in new funding to support sales growth and the development of products targeting obesity and food allergies in dogs.
Founded in 2020, the company currently sells its products through its own website and Amazon.
Omni Pet said the funding will support its expansion into physical retail outlets, as well as, helping to attract new online customers. The company also plans to launch new products, including what it describes as a natural, drug-free weight-loss supplement for dogs.
The funding round was led by UK investor IW Capital. Other participants included US-based Lever VC, which focuses on investments in early-stage businesses, including companies developing alternative protein solutions.
Omni Pet’s range of foods, treats and supplements uses yeast, algae and pulse-based ingredients in place of animal proteins.
Founders Dr Guy Sandelowsky and Shiv Sivakumar appeared on the UK business investment programme Dragons’ Den last year, securing backing from entrepreneurs Deborah Meaden and Steven Bartlett.
Meaden, who also participated in the latest funding round, said,: “Pet health is becoming an increasingly important issue, with more dogs struggling with obesity, allergies and other chronic health conditions. The team have continued to execute exceptionally well, building a fast-growing brand with real purpose behind it. That progress is exactly why I chose to double down and reinvest.”
Dr Sandelowsky, a practising vet, said the pet sector is “undergoing a structural shift”, with owners increasingly treating pets as family members. He said this is driving growing demand for health-focused nutrition and personalised care.
He added, “With chronic conditions in pets growing at double-digit rates, consumers are actively moving away from allergy-triggering and calorie-heavy brands. Omni Pet is leading this shift by bringing together clinical know-how and round-the-clock vet access to give pet owners practical, long-term support for their pets’ health.”
