Packaged Feeds partners with FreezeM to enhance insect farming operations

Packaged Feeds has entered into a partnership with FreezeM to integrate the company’s PauseM technology into its black soldier fly (BSF) farming operations. The collaboration aims to improve the efficiency and sustainability of Packaged Feeds’ modular rearing systems that convert organic waste into high-quality protein and other byproducts.

The PauseM product, developed by FreezeM, contains suspended BSF neonates with a shelf life of 14 days. This technology will be incorporated into Packaged Feeds’ operations to streamline the breeding process and meet growing demand. Initially, FreezeM will supply PauseM from its facility in Germany, with plans to establish a breeding hub in England to support the UK market.

Adam Bensusan, Sales Director at Packaged Feeds, stated that the decision to incorporate PauseM would enhance efficiency, scalability, and sustainability while ensuring the delivery of high-quality products. Yuval Gilad, CEO and co-founder of FreezeM, emphasised the partnership’s role in advancing scalable, efficient, and sustainable BSF farming systems.

The collaboration between the two companies represents a step forward in developing a decoupled BSF breeding model, which could play a key role in the future of insect farming.
