Pet Circle, a leading Australian online retailer for pet supplies and insurance, has named Alistair Venn as its new CEO, the Australian Financial Review reported. Venn, who joined the company as chief operating officer in March, previously held significant positions at Menulog Australia, SafetyCulture, and Woolworths.

Venn takes over from co-founder Mike Frizell, who led the company for 14 years, transforming it from a small startup into a business valued over AU$1 billion (US$644.1 million).

Recent reports reveal that Pet Circle’s sales increased by 6% to AU$385 million (US$248 million) for the year ending June 2024, a decrease from the 16% growth seen in the prior year. During the same period, losses expanded by 25% to AU$26.4 million (US$17 million).

Looking ahead, Venn has expressed the company’s intention to enhance its services by expanding next-day delivery across Australia and broadening its product range for various types of pets.

Pet Circle continues to have the support of investors, including AirTree, TDM Growth Partners, and US-based Prysm Capital.
