The 28th edition of Pet Fair Asia concluded in Shanghai on August 23, marking a record-breaking edition that further strengthened the event’s role as an international meeting point for the global pet industry.
The expo, which ran from August 19 to 23, spanned 320,000 square meters and attracted over 2,600 exhibitors and 130,000 professional visitors. International attendance climbed by 23%, with visitors from 102 countries, the greatest number ever recorded by the event. Visitors from Southeast Asia and South America showed particularly substantial growth, but participation from mature countries such as the United States and the European Union outpaced the total growth rate. The final two public days drew nearly 400,000 pet lovers.
The event’s extensive coverage of the pet ecosystem remained a primary strength, encompassing completed products, manufacturing, and supply chains, as well as developing categories, technology, and consumer trends. Over 80 themed summits, forums, and industrial activities increased chances for information exchange. The International Pet Industry Summit (IPIS) – ASEAN CEO Summit, held prior to the expo, had 25 speakers and 760 attendees.
Pet Fair Asia also implemented a number of efforts to boost its commercial focus. For the first time, the opening day was recognised as a VIP B2B Day, attracting international guests, invited domestic professionals, and over 60 Chinese buyer groups. A further 100 selected buyers from 22 countries attended, together with delegations from Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Marco Gioso of China Vet Connection, which organised the Brazilian delegation, praised the show as a “extraordinary experience,” emphasising its size, organization, innovation, and economic potential.International exhibitors and brands represented 32 countries outside of China, accounting for 20% of total participation. South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, the United States, and Poland all returned to their national pavilions, while Canada returned after six years and Thailand made its first appearance.
Another significant focus was innovation, with the new World Debut platform showing more than 100 innovative goods for the first time globally. Chinese enterprises have also demonstrated increasing capabilities in branded items, technology, and worldwide expansion.
Pet Fair Asia will return to the Shanghai New International Expo Center from August 18 to 22, 2027. The Pet Fair Asia Network will also continue to connect worldwide firms with Asian markets through events in Bangkok, Guangzhou, and Beijing, with a new Shanghai event at West Bund Dome scheduled for April 2027.
