The Pet Food Institute (PFI) has welcomed efforts by John Boozman to advance Farm Bill legislation, highlighting several provisions that support the US petfood sector.
According to PFI, the draft Senate bill includes measures aimed at strengthening animal health protections, supporting safe ingredient sourcing and improving the global competitiveness of US petfood manufacturers, while also recognising the role of American farmers within the supply chain.
“PFI appreciates Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Boozman’s effort to advance Farm Bill legislation. The draft Senate bill includes key priorities for the U.S. petfood industry, including provisions to strengthen animal health protections, support safe ingredient sourcing, and bolster the global competitiveness of U.S. petfood producers, while supporting America’s farmers who are essential to the supply chain,” said Elise Fennig.
PFI also welcomed proposals to increase funding for agricultural trade promotion programmes, which the organisation said would help create additional export opportunities for US petfood manufacturers.
