Post Consumer Brands Boosts Petfood Distribution Hub

Post Consumer Brands

The Develop Fulton Board of Directors has unanimously approved an economic development incentive to support Post Consumer Brands LLC’s planned expansion of its leased warehouse and distribution facility in Fairburn, Georgia, US.

The company will partner with its current landlord, who will fund the planned US$31.99 million expansion. The incentive will apply only to the new development and not to the existing facility.

Post Consumer Brands, a subsidiary of Post Holdings, operates across both breakfast cereals and petfood. Its pet portfolio includes brands such as Rachael Ray Nutrish, Nature’s Recipe, 9Lives, Kibbles ‘n Bits and Gravy Train.

The project will add approximately 301,320 square feet to Post Consumer Brands’ existing 700,000-square-foot facility at 4955 Oakley Industrial Boulevard. Once completed, the site will consolidate and expand the distribution of the company’s breakfast cereal and petfood products, creating a more efficient distribution hub for the southeastern US. According to the company, the unified warehouse system is expected to improve logistics, reduce transportation costs and strengthen inventory management.

The expansion is expected to create around 35 new full-time jobs, retain 64 existing positions and support approximately 100 temporary construction jobs. A project analysis estimates the development will generate an overall economic impact of approximately US$182.6 million.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with operations expected to start in the third quarter of 2027. Closing of the project is anticipated during the third quarter of 2026.

Develop Fulton estimates the expansion will generate approximately US$3.55 million in local tax revenue over the 10-year incentive period. In the first year after completion, the expanded facility is projected to generate around US$246,605 in taxes, compared with approximately US$14,290 annually before the investment.

Mayor Hattie Portis-Jones said, “Post Consumer Brands’ planned expansion is a strong vote of confidence in Fairburn and the future we are building”. Adds that they will continue working with their partners to support responsible growth that creates opportunity for the residents and elevates Fairburn’s position as a leading destination for business investment.

Develop Fulton Board Chairman Kwanza Hall added that the investment reinforces Fulton County’s strengths in “workforce, infrastructure and business environment companies need to grow”, while supporting job creation and industrial growth. City Administrator Tony Phillips said the project would strengthen the local economy, increase the tax base and help Fairburn remain competitive for future business investment.

Develop Fulton previously supported the development of the company’s existing Fairburn facility by issuing Taxable Revenue Bonds for the First Industrial Project in 2018. The authority said it continues to support projects that create jobs, expand the local tax base and contribute to long-term economic development across Fulton County.
