A new survey from Royal Canin found that 62% of puppy owners in North America feel overwhelmed by the vast number of puppy food options available. The overwhelming feeling, often referred to as the “puppy blues,” stems from uncertainty about which ingredients are important for a puppy’s development.
The survey, which polled 1023 puppy owners, highlights the challenge many face when selecting the right food for their new pet.
82% of owners said they would change their puppy’s food based on expert recommendations. 91% agreed that it crucial to tailor the diet to a puppy’s specific needs and 94% of puppy owners prioritize ingredient quality and proven nutritional science. The survey also revealed that nearly half of puppy owners (42%) feel they lack knowledge about puppy nutrition, making expert advice essential during the transition to pet ownership.
