Fressnapf | Maxi Zoo, Europe’s omnichannel pet retailer, announced solid results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025 despite facing market challenges. The company achieved €870 million in revenue and €72 million in adjusted EBITDA, reflecting stability amid ongoing challenges, including declining industry volumes and heightened competition.
The group’s success is attributed to effective cost management and a continued focus on transformation, with an emphasis on delivering exceptional customer service and driving international expansion. During Q1, Fressnapf | Maxi Zoo opened 41 new stores across France, Italy, and Poland, contributing to a diversified operation in 15 countries. Notably, 65% of the total revenue now comes from outside its domestic market, highlighting its growing international presence.
Additionally, the company made strides in enhancing its omnichannel capabilities, with physical sales rising by 7.7% and online revenues increasing by 3.3%. Improvements in product availability and a streamlined shopping experience, including the rollout of Click & Collect services, supported these gains. The introduction of the Pick-from-Store model in select markets further enhances the shopping experience, allowing stores to fulfil online orders directly and thus reducing delivery times.
Looking ahead, Fressnapf | Maxi Zoo remains dedicated to its transformation plan, which includes the opening of several new stores, further integration of services, and investments in logistics and supply chain improvements. “Through consistent strategy execution, scalable investments, and a clear focus on customer proximity and operational excellence,” the Group aims to unlock additional growth potential and strengthen its position as Europe’s leading pet retailer.
