Kormotech expands petfood distribution to Qatar and Nigeria

Ukrainian petfood producer Kormotech has expanded into Qatar and Nigeria, increasing its international presence to 46 countries. The company aims to strengthen its position in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, where it currently exports around 1,065 tonnes of petfood annually.

In Qatar, Kormotech is launching its Club 4 Paws cat food range. In Nigeria, both cat and dog food under the same brand will be available in local stores.

The MEA petfood market is projected to grow from $5.39 billion in 2023 to $6.46 billion by 2028, with rising pet ownership and focus on animal wellness cited as key drivers.

Kormotech began its regional expansion in 2019 and now operates in markets including Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco. The company reports a tenfold increase in MEA sales over five years.

Mykola Deviatov, who oversees business development in the region, said competition is currently lower in Qatar and Nigeria compared to mature markets, but growth is strong. The company has adapted its product lineup with chicken, lamb, and fish flavours to meet local preferences.

Kormotech plans further engagement in the region, including participation in PetWorld Arabia 2025 in Dubai this April, to build new partnerships and support ongoing growth.
