Petfood brand partners with mountain rescue charity in Lake District, Cumbria

A petfood brand inspired by the Lake District has launched a five-year partnership with the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs Association (LDMRSDA) to support its operations.

The Lakes Collection, part of WCF Pet & Equestrian, will provide free dog food to LDMRSDA’s search teams and assist with fundraising and support for the charity’s volunteers. The partnership aims to help sustain the work of the Association, which uses trained dog teams to locate missing persons in mountainous areas.

LDMRSDA, based in Keswick, is entirely volunteer-run and includes around 80 members, including handlers, assessors, and support roles. It operates eight teams of trained search dogs, with four more in training. The charity relies solely on donations and costs approximately £60,000 annually to operate.

Jade Earley, General Manager of WCF Pet & Equestrian, said the collaboration reflects the company’s connection to the region and commitment to local causes. Rob Grange, chair of LDMRSDA, highlighted the operational value of trained dogs, noting their ability to cover large areas quickly.

WCF Pet & Equestrian, established in 1911, runs eight stores across Northern England and southwest Scotland. Its Lakes Collection dog food is made in the UK using responsibly sourced ingredients.
