Thai Petfood Exports Show Mixed Outlook

Thai Union Group expects a positive outlook for the petfood sector, although Thailand’s overall export growth in this segment is projected to moderate this year.

Thiraphong Chansiri, Chief Executive, told the Bangkok Post that the petfood market remains promising, with annual growth forecast at 4–6 percent, outpacing the wider food industry, which is expected to grow by 2–3 percent. He noted that the opportunity has attracted significant industry interest, with established players operating across key markets, often led by strong domestic brands.

Growth in the United States market is expected to slow, partly due to a surge in exports during 2025 ahead of new tariff measures introduced later in the year, according to ttb analytics.

At the same time, Thailand is increasing its presence in Europe, where exports accounted for 17 percent of the total in 2025, up from 11.4 percent in 2024. ttb analytics forecasts continued momentum in this region, with growth of 9–10 percent driven by strong purchasing power, rising pet ownership and increasing demand for premium pet food products.

In related developments, O.C.C. Plc, the marketing arm of fashion and beauty businesses under Saha Group, has expanded its pet portfolio by adding Tank Tinker, a Thai importer and distributor of dog apparel, accessories and toys. The company said the addition is expected to support expansion into the growing pet lifestyle segment.
