VAFO Group has announced plans to invest EU€14 million in a new wet petfood production facility near Słupsk, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2027.
The investment forms part of the company’s VAFO 2030 growth strategy, which focuses on expanding production capacity, particularly in the wet petfood segment. VAFO has acquired the site of a former fish cannery and plans to redevelop it into a modern manufacturing facility specialising in pouch-packed wet petfood.
During its first phase, the plant is expected to produce up to 100 million pouches annually and create around 50 new jobs.
The 12-hectare site is located around 10km from Słupsk, approximately 120km from the Port of Gdynia and 30km from Carry Pet Food, which will become part of the new facility. Carry Pet Food is currently the only manufacturer of handmade dog chew bones in the European Union. The site will manufacture both VAFO’s own brands and private label products for international partners.
VAFO said the project will incorporate modern, energy-efficient technologies, with a focus on energy recovery and reducing environmental impact. The investment has also received support from local authorities, who view it as an important contribution to regional economic development and employment.
The announcement follows VAFO’s recent acquisition of one of Poland’s largest petfood distributors and forms part of the company’s wider strategy to strengthen its production, distribution and customer presence across the country.
