Wynwood Dog Food Co. Expands With New Miami Production Hub

Wynwood Dog Food Co. is gearing up for its next big leap, announcing plans to open a new 13,000-square-foot production facility in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood—more than quadrupling its current footprint and setting the stage for national expansion.

The new plant, which is scheduled to open in early 2027, represents a significant turning point for the leader in fresh dog food, which is well-known for its prescription and balanced diets. In order to meet the growing demand for Wynwood’s FRESH RX prescription line and its Complete & Balanced everyday meals, the additional facilities will increase yearly fresh food output to $30 million.
“Pet parents are done settling for ultra-processed prescription food,” said CEO and Co-Founder Michael O’Rourke. “This new space gives us the ability to do things differently and grow on our terms, while partnering with veterinary clinics across the nation.”
The firm, which takes pride in making all of its meals in-house instead of using co-packers, has established a reputation for radical transparency and formulation supported by research. After the company’s first national advertising campaign, its mission-driven tagline, “Built on science, not buzzwords,” has resonated strongly throughout the country, driving continuous month-over-month revenue growth of more than 7%.

The new Allapattah facility will be distinguished by its transparency. In addition to a live streaming broadcast on Wynwood’s website, plans call for a public viewing area where consumers and veterinarians may observe a large portion of the production process—an unusual degree of transparency in the pet food industry.

O’Rourke and his family founded Wynwood in 2015, and since then, it has expanded from a modest Miami startup to a growing national leader in fresh and therapeutic dog nutrition. The company’s ties to the Miami community are likely to be further strengthened by the new facility, which is anticipated to generate more jobs beyond its present 40-person workforce.

“We started small, stayed profitable, and earned trust through veterinary recommendations,” O’Rourke said. “Now, with our new facility and national campaign, we’re ready to be the leader in fresh prescription dog food.”
