Coperion Supports Innovation at Petfood Forum

The humane society visit at the Coperion booth

Coperion Food, Health & Nutrition used its participation at the Petfood Forum 2026 to support organisations focused on improving pet welfare and advancing innovation in the petfood sector.

The company sponsored the Polk County Humane Society at the event, which attended alongside Missouri State University. Students enrolled in companion animal courses at the university worked with six shelter puppies ahead of the event to support their socialisation and improve adoptability. The puppies were also present at Coperion’s exhibition stand.

Coperion also supported the Future of Petfood Pavilion, an initiative aimed at connecting industry innovation with emerging professionals in the sector. In addition, the company contributed to the Tech Talk Stage, where Jonathan O. Thorn, Executive Director of Process Technology, presented a session titled “Extruder Hood Designs That Promote Sanitary Processes” on April 28.

The presentation addressed recent developments in extruder hood design, including adjustments to traditional vacuum takeaway systems, which are helping manufacturers reduce microbial contamination and improve process control.

At its stand during the event, held in Kansas City from April 27–29, Coperion showcased several technologies. These included the Baker Perkins Rotary Moulder Mini for small-batch pet treat production, the Shick Esteve IBC liquid tote system for temporary storage and dosing of liquids, the E-finity conveying system for handling fragile materials, the Kemutec KEK cone mill vertical milling machine, and the Connect Advisor digital remote support platform for maintenance and troubleshooting.

Petfood Forum is a leading conference and exhibition focused on consumer trends and industry developments in the global petfood market.
