The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the WPA Good Works program to support sustainability efforts in the pet industry. The funding will help PSC advance eco-friendly packaging, promote responsible ingredient sourcing, and educate businesses on measurable environmental strategies.
Founded in 2013, PSC now has over 200 members across 18 countries. The WPA Good Works program has donated over $15 million in the past 15 years, with nearly $2 million allocated annually.
The grant will fund initiatives including the creation of the 2025 “Sustainability in the Pet Industry Report” and educational webinars on topics like greenhouse gas reporting and sustainable packaging. PSC will also expand its free toolkit, which includes anti-greenwashing guidelines and a packaging legislation tracker.
Jim Lamancusa, Executive Director of PSC, expressed gratitude for the grant, highlighting its role in advancing the coalition’s efforts and helping the pet industry adopt sustainable practices.
Vic Mason, President of the World Pet Association (WPA), stressed the importance of supporting organizations that drive meaningful change for a sustainable future.
PSC’s programs, which include accreditation, consulting, and industry case studies, aim to make sustainability both achievable and profitable for companies in the pet industry. This new funding will expand these resources to help more businesses adopt environmentally responsible practices. The WPA, founded in 1950, is the pet industry’s oldest nonprofit organisation and supports industry growth through events like SUPERZOO and GROOM’D.
