Hill’s Pet Nutrition to host global symposium on senior pet care

Hill’s Global Symposium, Phoenix, AZ, 2025

Hill’s Pet Nutrition has announced the 2025 Hill’s Global Symposium, focusing on the specialised care of ageing pets. Set for October 26-28 in Phoenix, Arizona, the event will be livestreamed worldwide, allowing veterinary professionals to join for free.

The company is committed to supporting the health of senior pets through innovative therapeutic and wellness-based nutrition.

“The ‘Strong Science, Long Lives’ theme of this year’s Hill’s Global Symposium perfectly encapsulates our mission,” said Dr. Jolle Kirpensteijn, chief veterinary officer of Hill’s Pet Nutrition. He emphasised the importance of using science and nutrition to enhance the lives of ageing pets.

Titled “Strong Science, Long Lives,” the symposium aims to advance understanding of senior pet health through scientific research. Participants can attend in person or virtually, with access to sessions in English, Spanish, and French, as well as on-demand recordings post-event.

Renowned experts will share insights on the latest developments in the care of aging pets, covering topics such as veterinary geroscience, cognitive dysfunction, mobility challenges, and managing multiple health issues in senior patients.

Prominent speakers include Nicole Ehrhart from Colorado State University, who will discuss the ageing process in pets, and Natasha Olby from North Carolina State University, who will address mobility loss in senior dogs. Other sessions will focus on frailty in small animals and the role of nutrition in feline health.

Dr. Chelsie Estey, chief veterinary officer of Hill’s U.S., stated, “As pets live longer, our understanding of their unique needs in their senior years must evolve.”

The symposium will also highlight key Hill’s products designed for senior pets, such as the Prescription Diet Brain Care + j/d and other nutritional innovations aimed at improving the quality of life for ageing animals.
