i-Tail Corporation Public Company Limited (ITC), a global petfood manufacturer, has completed its US$160 million acquisition of US-based Phelps Industries, LLC, known as Phelps Pet Products. Announced on 26 October 2026, the deal strengthens i-Tail’s presence in the United States and expands its portfolio of pet treats and specialty nutrition products.

The acquisition combines Phelps’ expertise in dog nutrition, air-dried foods and jerky-style treats with i-Tail’s established business in premium wet cat food. It also gives i-Tail a manufacturing presence in its largest market, strengthens its supply network and expands its access to customers across retail and distribution channels.

Roy Chan, CEO of i-Tail, said, “Phelps is a strong strategic fit for i-Tail, bringing differentiated products, expertise, and market capabilities that complement our strengths and deepen our presence in one of the world’s largest petfood markets.” Chan added that the acquisition supports the company’s ambition to reach up to US$1.5 billion in annual revenue by 2030. He cited growing demand for a wider range of treats, snacks and innovative pet food products as pets increasingly become part of family life.

Rick Ruffolo, CEO and president of Phelps Pet Products, said, “Joining i-Tail marks an exciting new chapter for Phelps’ customers, employees, and vendor partners. Both companies have a decades-long history of serving the pet industry, being leaders in certified sustainable manufacturing and sourcing practices, and providing innovative products to our customers.” The combination could also create opportunities for cross-selling and product development. He added that the companies could use their respective market experience and capabilities to broaden product offerings and help customers grow their market share.

Founded in 1966, Phelps specialises in clean-label, protein-first pet treats and specialty pet nutrition products. It works with retailers and pet food brands in the United States, Canada and other markets. The company reported US$70.3 million in net sales in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of 25.6 percent between 2023 and 2025. Its manufacturing facilities are located in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Pet treats accounted for 20 percent of i-Tail’s total pet food sales in the first half of 2026. During the same period, the company launched more than 400 new products.
