Sportsman’s Pride has introduced a new 50lb dog food lineup, replacing its traditional 40lb Classic bags with larger formats to meet demand from dog owners and retailers. The launch, announced on 2 November 2026, also includes redesigned packaging intended to improve product visibility and make shopping easier.
The transition begins with Sportsman’s Pride 26/18 Premium Complete & Balanced Dog Food. The new packaging features updated imagery, clearer product information, formula callouts, recognisable icons and improved life-stage identification to help consumers select products.
“Dog owners know what they want, and bigger bags are high on that list,” said Alan Bostick, Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Mills, Inc. “We’re excited to introduce the new 50 pound bags, giving our customers more of the quality nutrition they’ve come to expect from Sportsman’s Pride in a larger size they’ve been asking for.”
Scott Merrill, vice president of sales at Sunshine Mills, also highlighted growing retailer interest in larger bag formats, citing their appeal to customers seeking greater quantities and value.
Sportsman’s Pride has served sporting dog owners, including hunters, trainers and breeders, for decades. Its parent company, Sunshine Mills, was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Red Bay, Alabama. The family-owned manufacturer produces branded and private-label food and treats for dogs and cats across eight manufacturing facilities in seven US states.
