UK-based alternative protein petfood brand THE PACK has been acquired by Prefera Petfood SRL, a producer of natural wet foods for cats and dogs. The deal includes plans to expand The Pack’s presence across the UK and Europe.
Founders Damien Clarkson and Judy Nadel will join Prefera’s team to help scale the brand and develop new nutrition products. The acquisition follows Prefera’s recent partnership with biotech firm Biocraft Pet Nutrition to develop cat food from cultivated mouse meat.
“The Pack has been one of the pioneering companies in the emerging alternative protein petfood market,” said Nicola Magalini, Managing Partner at Prefera. “We are excited to expand its product range and reach.”
Founded in 2021, The Pack offers wet and dry petfood using alternative proteins. In early 2025, it claimed to be the first company to release a cultivated meat product for dogs, launching Chick Bites in partnership with Meatly.
Clarkson said the acquisition will allow the brand to create its next generation of petfood, combining Prefera’s production capacity with The Pack’s product development experience.
The Pack will appear at Prefera’s stand at the Zoomark trade show in Bologna, held from 5–7 May.
