Today, August 26, is International Dog Day, where we celebrate dogs of all kinds and sizes, shapes and breeds. It is a day of encouragement for adoption and for us at International Petfood, a day to encourage our fellow pet parents to feed your beloved dogs the best and most nutritional meal you (and also a few treats).
There are many ways to celebrate today with your dog, by either sharing a selfie online or buying them that expensive treat you have been putting off. Sadly, there are many dogs that are not in fortunate situations where they can easily access food, nutritional or otherwise. Some things you can do to help on this special day would be to:
- Donate dog food to shelters, charities, food banks or a struggling family member or friend – wet, dry or treats
- Donate money to a charity that specialises in providing dog food
- Volunteer your time in dog shelters
- Leave some food out if you see a stray dog (although you should alert the authorities if you can regarding the stray to provide them with better support)
- And many more.
