Inspired Pet Nutrition achieves 100% food waste diversion with Waste Mission

Inspired Pet Nutrition (IPN) has successfully achieved 100% food waste diversion through its partnership with Waste Mission. The collaboration, announced on 8 January, 2025, addresses key waste management challenges faced by IPN, a family-run business known for brands like Wagg, Harringtons, Barking Heads, and Meowing Heads.

The waste management solutions provided by Waste Mission include recycling materials such as meat and fish juice on packaging and raw meat waste. All of IPN’s waste is now diverted from landfills and fully recycled.

The move aligns with IPN’s sustainability goal, which includes being the first UK petfood manufacturer to go carbon-negative in 2020. The company’s focus on waste reduction and environmental responsibility was further emphasised through its collaboration with Waste Mission, which offers solutions that minimise environmental impact and conserve resources.

IPN faced several waste management hurdles, including the handling of meat juice packaging and raw meat waste. The 24-hour service level agreement established with Waste Mission ensures uninterrupted waste collection and management, preventing operational disruptions.

The collaboration has met IPN’s sustainability goals, achieving 100% landfill diversion and recycling rates. IPN aims to continue promoting waste reduction practices and encourages other companies in the industry to adopt similar approaches.
