Kormotech expands Bulgarian footprint through partnership with Petmall

Ukrainian petfood manufacturer Kormotech has entered a strategic partnership with Petmall, Bulgaria’s largest online pet supply retailer and operator of 17 physical stores, in a move aimed at strengthening its presence in the country’s growing pet care market.

Under the agreement, Kormotech’s full portfolio — including the Optimeal, Club 4 Paws, My Love, and Delickcious brands in both wet and dry formats — will now be available across Petmall’s e-commerce platform and retail network.

The Ukrainian company has supplied products to Bulgarian consumers for more than eight years but says the expanded cooperation will make its premium nutrition “even more accessible” nationwide.

Bulgaria’s pet food sector is forecast to grow at a 3.32% compound annual rate from 2025 to 2029, with current annual revenues close to €101.65 million (US$119.2 million), according to Kormotech. Petmall is also accelerating its own expansion, planning to open eight new stores within the next 18 months.

“We aim to become one of the top three players in Bulgaria within the next three to four years,” said Yuri Bykoriz, Kormotech’s Managing Director for Central-Eastern Europe.

The partnership comes as Kormotech continues to invest abroad despite the ongoing war in Ukraine. In December 2024, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provided financing for the company’s export growth and geographic diversification, including the construction of a second pet food factory in Lithuania.

The €63 million (US$67 million) project is part of Kormotech’s goal to reach $500 million in annual sales by 2028.

Founded in Ukraine, Kormotech manufactures wet and dry food for cats and dogs and exports to multiple markets worldwide.
