Meatly, in collaboration with THE PACK and Pets at Home, has launched the world’s first cultivated meat pet treats in the UK. The limited release of “Chick Bites” is now available at Pets at Home in Brentford, London.
The dog treats combine Meatly’s cultivated chicken with plant-based ingredients, offering a vegan alternate option to traditional petfood. The cultivated chicken is produced by growing meat from a single cell sample taken from a chicken egg, providing a vegan option for pet owners.

Meatly’s CEO, Owen Ensor, called the launch a significant milestone, noting the company’s progress since the concept was first imagined two years ago. “It’s a giant leap forward,” he said.
Pets at Home, a key investor in Meatly, is the first retailer to sell petfood made from cultivated meat. This move supports the company’s sustainability goals to reduce the carbon, land, and water footprints of petfood production.
Damien Clarkson, CEO of THE PACK, emphasized that cultivated meat could transform the petfood industry by offering a low-carbon, healthy protein source.
Meatly plans to scale production over the next three to five years, with further collaborations aimed at expanding the availability of cultivated meat petfood.
