French petfood manufacturer Normandise Pet Food has significantly expanded its North American operations through the strategic acquisition of Food4Pets Canada and its associated US entity. Finalised on 24 March 2026, the deal adds canned petfood manufacturing to Normandise’s existing capabilities, which were previously focused on pouch, tray and brick formats. This strategic move provides Normandise with an immediate manufacturing footprint and distribution network across the United States, reports Capucine Taconet from Le Journal des Entreprises.
Normandise, a leading European producer of private-label wet petfood for major retailers and brands, has been actively advancing a global strategy with a particular focus on this region. Headquartered in Normandy, France, the company reported revenues of EU€187 million in 2025 and expects to exceed EU€200 million this year, with growth further supported by its North American expansion, reports Alvaro de la Maza, Partner at Aninver. The acquisition introduces a key product category to Normandise’s portfolio, strengthening its position as a comprehensive wet petfood supplier.

Food4Pets Canada, founded in 2017 and based in Quebec, brings specialised expertise in the production of canned food for both dogs and cats. The transaction included the full exit of previous co-owners, the Legault family group and founder Dominique Martin. Normandise Pet Food now assumes full ownership of the business, with Dominique Martin set to remain involved until his retirement. All existing Food4Pets employees will remain in place, ensuring continuity and retention of expertise.
Valued at more than US$40 billion annually, the North American petfood market has shown steady growth, driven by rising pet ownership and increasing demand for premium products. Through the acquisition of Food4Pets, Normandise gains not only additional production capacity but also established customer relationships and market access—key factors in entering this competitive yet attractive market. The move also reflects wider consolidation trends within the petfood sector, as companies seek to broaden their portfolios and geographic presence.
