VAFO Group expands in Central Europe with AZAN acquisition

VAFO Group, a top European producer of superpremium petfood, has acquired AZAN, one of Poland’s largest distribution companies. This move strengthens VAFO’s foothold in Central and Eastern Europe, enhances customer engagement, and opens up new growth avenues. The acquisition builds on nearly thirty years of collaboration and shared values between the two firms.

“This acquisition is an important step in fulfilling our strategy to remain a leading petfood company in Europe,” said Pavel Bouška, Chairman of the Board of VAFO Group. He emphasised the importance of AZAN in VAFO’s success in Poland, noting the company already has a factory in the country and plans for further investment.

Agnieszka Donicz, co-founder and CEO of AZAN, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “We’ve reached a level of development that made us an attractive partner for a reputable company like VAFO.” She highlighted that the collaboration was a recognition of AZAN’s potential as a valuable market player.

Founded in 1997 by siblings Agnieszka Donicz and Krzysztof Furdal, AZAN has grown from a small family business to a key distributor, serving nearly 7000 customers across specialised retail, veterinary care, and modern retail. The company also runs e-commerce platforms and its own snack brand, Azanki.

As part of the VAFO Group, AZAN will continue to leverage its distribution expertise while the acquisition streamlines operations and enhances logistics and finance synergies. This strategic move reaffirms VAFO’s commitment to the Polish market, positioning the company to better meet customer needs.
