ADM has partnered with Hill’s Pet Nutrition to accelerate regenerative agriculture practices across approximately 18,500 acres of corn and soybean fields in the United States and Europe.
The multi-year initiative covers about 16,000 acres in Illinois and Minnesota, plus a pilot programme enrolling roughly 2500 acres (1000 hectares) of soybean fields in Hungary. Participating farmers will receive financial incentives tied to adopting practices such as fertiliser efficiency programmes, cover crops or companion cropping.
The collaboration aims to enhance soil health, reduce carbon intensity, curb soil erosion, improve water quality, increase biodiversity and support long-term farm operating resilience.
“Farmers are at the heart of our pet food system, and this partnership enables us to support regenerative agriculture while sourcing high-quality ingredients grown with care for the land,” said Greg Morris, SVP and President, Ag Services & Oilseeds at ADM.
Hill’s will benefit from the programme as corn and soy are foundational to its pet food recipes. “By investing in the health of the land, we are safeguarding the future of agriculture and the high-quality ingredients that pet parents trust us to provide,” said Dave Baloga, EVP of Hill’s Science and Technology.
ADM will provide technical support, peer-networking opportunities and field-level education, while managing data collection and outcome reporting to verify environmental and economic impacts. For its European business, Hungary serves as a key origin for ADM’s soybean sourcing, enabling supply to its plants in Straubing and Mainz via the Danube and Rhine rivers.
