PetSmart has announced a new partnership with General Mills to bring Edgard & Cooper, a premium petfood brand from Europe, to its US stores and online platforms. This move aims to meet the rising demand for high-quality pet nutrition among American pet owners.
Edgard & Cooper’s offerings include a full range of dog food products made with fresh meat, zero meat meal, and whole fruits and vegetables.
“People have become more mindful about what they eat, and as a result, we are seeing pet parents become more conscious of what goes into their pets’ bowls too,” said Erika Tervelt, Vice President of consumables merchandising at PetSmart. “We are committed to meeting these needs with more innovative and quality petfood options.”
Recent data indicates that interest in premium pet food is growing, with 54% of dog owners and 47% of cat owners expressing a desire for higher-quality nutrition for their pets.
Edgard & Cooper offers both dry and wet food, along with treats made from real protein sources such as chicken, venison, and duck, designed to enhance digestion and promote shiny coats in dogs of all ages and breeds, the company stated.
“Launching Edgard & Cooper in the US through our exclusive PetSmart retail partnership is a pivotal moment for the brand,” said Nicole Ayers, Business Unit Director for Growth Accelerators, North America Pet, General Mills. “We’re excited to introduce American pet parents to Edgard & Cooper’s nutritious recipes made with real, recognisable ingredients.”
